I will like to tell my story of how I stared my carrier as a UI/UX designer.

The passion for coding started when i was working as a beat supervisor, under proton security company, I was posted to serve in “Andela” one of the top tech company in Nigeria. Seeing young people writing lines of codes, and the working environment keeps the passion burning in me to switch to coding as a carrier.

Thou i had no knowledge of coding at the time, I talked to some friends in the company “Andela” and asked what coding is all about and how i can learn to code? Some friends introduced me to “Codecademy.com” And “Freecodecamp.com” among other resources, it was very challenging to say the least. Learning to code on my own while working as a beat supervisor. Some times i get frustrated along the line when my codes don't run as intended, watching videos on YouTube to fix them, this have been really helpful in making me a better programmer.

Have been in and out of coding due to the nature of my job as a beat supervisor, managing guards and making sure we work as team to archive a common goal was really demanding and time taking so to say.

A friend who working as a full stack developer saw my interest in coding knowing fully well i cant afford to pay for the training in an academy, introduced me to an NGO “Tech4dev” and told me about their call to application and encouraged me to apply, which i did, luckily for me i was among those selected for the training. I was glad to know i will be trained to code and will be placed on an internship program after the training. I could say that was the one the of most happiest moment of my life, as that was all have ever wanted to switching to tech.

After been selected into the program as a trainee at Tech4dev, we had so many people in the software learning track and fewer people on other learning track, the organization have to fill up other spaces available, my self and some other people was move to other learning tracks. i was moved to UI/UX without any knowledge in the field at first i was like this is not what i bargained for, can i excel in this field? since i still have that burning passion of switching to tech i decided to give my best to the learning track i was placed on so i can be the best i can be. My trainer MR Ikenna was really patient with me, and at the same time a perfectionist who get pissed at bad design. slowly helping me to be the best i can be. Some time i get appreciated some times i get some honest critics, which helped me to be a better designer.

Every day there is always something interesting to learn in the UI/UX design field, also working on task with other team mates to be the best i can be. You can be what ever you want as long as you focus your mind on it and work towards aching your goal.

This is my story, i hope you enjoy it?
